LEAD MOTORSPORT TECHNICIAN - FULL TIME

MacG Racing are pleased to announce that they have an exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced and highly motivated candidate to join their growing team as a Lead Motorsport Technician, in order to support their continued expansion. This full time role will require the individual to work autonomously on a range of projects and vehicles, including customer race, track and performance road cars, as well as the Team’s dedicated race cars, with work covering anything from basic setup, upgrades and pre race weekend preparation, through to full race car builds and race support.

The candidate should have a strong understanding and practical experience of all automotive systems, with a proven track record of working in a dynamic and high pressure environment. Fault finding and problem solving of technical systems are essential. The role will involve direct interaction with customers so the ability to clearly and effectively communicate with customers is required. Candidates will be required to work on Clients' confidential projects and therefore have a high standard of honesty and discretion.

The role requires the candidate to work to strict timescales and have a high attention to detail and strong work ethic, and may require the candidate to work outside of normal hours when necessary. The role may also require the candidate to support other areas of the business when required, such as support to the Team during test days and/or race weekends.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out work on customer cars, (performance road, track and race cars) including general servicing, maintenance, upgrades and competition/race preparation.
  • Race car and project builds.
  • Working with the Team Principal to organise workload and manage customer deadlines.
  • Organisation and maintenance of the workshop and facilities.
  • Support with ongoing development projects.
  • Maintenance and development of the Team’s race fleet when required.

Required characteristics:

  • Experience of working in the motorsport industry (5 years minimum).
  • Ability to work autonomously in a high pressure environment with no supervision.
  • High attention to detail, work ethic and initiative.
  • Proven track record of problem solving and fault finding across all automotive systems.
  • Basic understanding of race car setup.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with customers.
  • Clean drivers licence.
  • Desire and wiliness to learn.

Desired characteristics:

  • Clean drivers licence eligible to tow a twin axle trailer.
  • Ability to MIG/TIG weld to a high standard.
  • Experience with race car electronics software such as Motec, AIM etc.
  • Understanding of engineering drawings.
